About Us
About Moe Cason
- Born, raised, and corn fed out of Des Moines, Iowa.
- Veteran of the U.S. Navy served on the USS Missouri – an Iowa class Battleship nicknamed “Big Mo”, now a museum ship at Pearl Harbor.
- Moe is passionate about BBQ because what initially was a hobby, very quickly turned into a way of life.
- He is a self-taught Pitmaster, using skills and authentic ingredients passed down from Grandmother Margaret Cason.
- He has competed in approximately 260 contests in 35 states since 2006 while working a full time job.
- Started Ponderosa Barbeque in Des Moines, Iowa.
- Contestant, Judge, and Star on Destination America’s Pitmaster’s and BBQ Pit Wars, and judge on new show “SMOKED” set to air June 2016.
- Has partnered with Smithfield the past four years to exclusively support Walmart’s Summer Rib Program.
